Celebrating 80 Years of Gail Pope
A Legacy Edition of The BrightHaven Way
On March 9th, 2026, Gail Pope turned 80.
For more than three decades, she opened her heart — and the doors of BrightHaven Sanctuary — to senior, chronically ill, disabled, and hospice animals who had nowhere else to go.
More than 700 animal teachers passed through those doors.
They shaped a philosophy.
They shaped a way of seeing.
They shaped what became known as The BrightHaven Way.
The BrightHaven Way
Years ago, as the Sanctuary closed its physical location, Gail began writing a manuscript reflecting on how that philosophy developed. The early drafts were personal and thoughtful — exploring not only what the Menu for Healing included, but how and why it evolved.
That manuscript has now been gently completed as a book and prepared for publication.
In celebration of Gail’s 80th birthday, we are honored to share this
Legacy Edition Book: The BrightHaven Way: Lessons from 700 Animal Teachers

- Vaccination considerations
- Immune and organ support

- Supporting a natural transition
- And finishing, always, with love
Legacy Edition Book
This book preserves Gail’s original voice from the Sanctuary years — thoughtfully edited for clarity and continuity — and completed so the full arc of her learning can be shared with a new generation of pet parents and practitioners.
This is not a step-by-step manual.
It is a philosophy born from lived experience — and from paying attention.
It is the story of a woman who was willing to change her mind, expand her thinking, and learn from the animals in her care.
